I Tried Everything, Then Lost 100 Pounds on Virta

By Kim, a Virta patient

I started Virta at 328 pounds with a waist size of 58 inches, and I am now 228 pounds with a 46 inch waist. I am off of 8 prescription meds, and I have lost 100 pounds and kept it off, all while healing my body.

My problems weren’t laziness and lack of willpower like people say. I have done the HCG shots for weight loss and ended up with 48 gallstones at age 16.  I did Jenny Craig and I was hungry. I did Optifast with Oprah. I did the South Beach diet. I have done Weight Watchers time and time again. I became bulimic and got as low as 134 pounds, but I could never maintain that weight and eat—all that did was wreck my teeth and forced me to get 4 implants to replace teeth I had to have pulled. Even as a kid, I was in the chubby section in Sears when my brother was in the slims section, yet we ate the same foods. Now that I’m on Virta, this is the first time ever in my life that my stomach has communicated with my brain to say, "Stop, I'm full." It feels so odd to be physically full yet not have to unbutton my pants!

With Virta, it has been two years of healing. Just today my fasting blood sugar was 125, and at the start of the program my fasting blood sugar was 268 even with the medications. The weight loss has taken time, but what has taken the most time is healing the long term damage of diabetes and a poor diet. I am healing my body one day at a time. It's not all fun and rainbows but it is worth it—because I am worth it!I still have a ways to go, but I know I can get there with Virta. I feel like I am in the bonus round of my life. I am walking the trails at our cabin, I am kayaking on the lake, I am down on the floor with my grandkids. Thanks Virta!
