When you need to change up your menu, pick this tasty recipe for low carb turkey mushroom burgers. With just a few ingredients, you can shake up your normal routine with these scrumptious turkey mushroom burgers. In addition, it is an excellent choice for a diabetes-friendly menu.
Instructions
Preparation:
- Finely chop 8 mushrooms. Slice the remaining mushroom and set aside.
- Finely chop half of the onion. Slice the remaining half and set aside.
- Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat.
- Add in chopped onion and cook for about 6 minutes, or until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add 1 teaspoon of the remaining oil.
- Add in chopped mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes.
- Allow the veggies to cool for 5 minutes.
- Combine mushroom mixture, onion, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and ground turkey in a large mixing bowl.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking:
- Form turkey/mushroom mixture into 4 patties.
- Chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to set.
- Using the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 teaspoon of oil.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and sliced onions and cook until tender for about 5 minutes.
- Move the mushroom mixture from the pan to a plate.
- Cover with foil to keep warm.
- In the same pan, cook the patties until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, or the juices run clear and the meat is no longer pink.
